History
- The Inaugural Tournament was held in 1967..
- John Dalzell a member of Portstewart Golf Club, was the man with the vision for the Tournament..
- The original host Clubs were Royal Portrush, Portstewart, Ballycastle and Castlerock.
- The event sponsors over the years have included Remy Martin Brandy, Bushmills Irish Whiskey, Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey & Magners Cider & more recently The Golf Links Hotel Portrush..
- Apart from Ireland, Competitors have in the past come from UK mainland, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Canada, USA, Bermuda & South Africa.
- The Tournament normally attracts in excess of 500 competitors & is possibly now the largest amateur golfing event in Europe.
- Current Host Clubs are Royal Portrush, Ballycastle, Castlerock, Ballyliffin. (North West Golf Club co-hosted in 2019 & 2025 when Royal Portrush was unavailable due to their staging of The Open Championship).
Tournament Courses and Dates
The Causeway Coast Tournament is held annually in the first full
week of June.
The 2026 Tournament will be played at Ballycastle, Castlerock,
Royal Portrush [The Valley Links] -& Ballyliffin [The Old Links] from
01.06.2026- 05.06.2026 Incl.,
Each Player will play on four of the five days with a rest day.
Entries
The maximum number of entries for the 2026 Tournament has been set at 800.
